PAUL SKINNER On January 29, 2010, Paul passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Paul was predeceased by his mother, Janice; his father, Keith; and his grandparents. Left to remember Paul are his sister, Sarah, her husband, Ray, and their children, Robert and Declan; his brother, Russell, his partner Crystal, and his children Sadie and Piper; his best friends, Kristy and Tobi; along with relatives in England and many friends here and abroad. Paul was born November 7, 1967 in England, and moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1973. Paul attended Van Belleghem Elementary and J.H. Bruns Collegiate, graduating in 1986. Paul worked at Grapes from 1985 to 2007. In the fall of 2007 he was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma. Almost immediately Paul had surgery, radiation, and started chemotherapy. In December 2008, while still undergoing chemo, Paul went to work for Safeway. Paul took great pride in whatever he did, whether it was work, his soccer career, or shopping for a loved one. Sadly, in September 2009, after almost two years of chemo, Paul found it too difficult to work and battle cancer at the same time and had to leave Safeway. On January 11, Paul was admitted to the Palliative Care unit at Riverview Health Centre. We would like to thank everyone on 3 East for their caring and support; it meant the world to us. Paul loved life and enjoyed himself immensely, bad jokes and all. A memorial service will be held at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street on Monday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate Paul's life. Flowers are graciously accepted; however, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Paul's name. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I worked with Paul at Grapes for a few years and am saddened to just only have heard about his passing-truly one of the nicest guys I ever met. RIP - Posted by: Don Shay (Friend) on: Oct 22, 2020

  • Paul was a good friend of our son's, and they both worked at Grapes. His smile was always captivating, and was the first thing that you noticed about him. It made you feel good. A few years later, he was an attendant at our son's wedding. When our son moved to BC, we unfortunately lost touch. I got to know Paul better when he was in Riverview...we had some nice visits and I got to know him better. He was gentle and kind, and my life was enriched by getting to know him again. May you rest in peace Paul. - Posted by: Gerri and Ron Wilkinson (Friend) on: Feb 07, 2010

  • Awww. Paul... You have been my friend for the last 16 years. I will miss you. Miss talking about football (KC sucks, Houston rocks!), restaurants, gossip, friends and family...and of course, your "soccer career". You were a free spirit (aka naked Paul) and I hope that spirit will remain with us for eternity. Love you. xoxo - Posted by: Tobi Malasiuk (Friend) on: Feb 06, 2010
